I can eat a whole plate of these at once!! They are always requested by our relatives and friends. My mom is going to be famous someday because of these. There are many versions of this cookie out there, but hers’ are the best- my son even requested them on his birthday instead of a cake!
Sharron's Cherry Wink Cookies
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 8 ounce jar maraschino cherries drained, reserving some juice
- 2 3/4 cup flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 cups cornflakes slightly crushed
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions

Preheat oven to 330 degrees. Cream butter and sugar together, then add the eggs. Slice 12 of the cherries in half and save. Chop the rest of the jar of cherries and add to the dough. Add the flour, baking powder, and soda. You can add extra cherry juice if it's dry. Using a spoon or scoop, make balls of dough and drop into the cornflakes and put onto a baking sheet and bake for 14 minutes or until done. Top with the saved cherry halves when done.
