Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 tsp. quick/fast rise yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 2 cups warm buttermilk
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 cup butter, unsalted

Instructions

  1. Combine the yeast and the warm water and set aside.  Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl and then cut in the butter with a pastry blender.  Add the yeast to the buttermilk and stir gently into the dry ingredients.  Now pat the dough out onto a floured surface and cut into biscuits and place onto a lightly sprayed pan.  Let them rest for 10 minutes and then bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden and done.
